Luke 2:52 says  “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”  Growth in these four aspects: mental, physical, spiritual and social were so important, that this is all that is said about Jesus from the age of 12 to 30. There is time to focus on growth. I like the fact that Jesus had to grow in these areas, it’s another part of his humanity that I can identify with.  These four aspects of our being also indicate God’s value of balanced life growth.

Consider these as four broad catch all categories that describe the fundamental formation of our lives. Take a minute to evaluate your own formation on a scale of 1-10.  10 High and 1 low.

Do you find yourself out of balance or off track in one or more areas?  Are you discouraged and longing for something better in a specific area?  Proverbs 13:12 says “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” If the longing continues too long without answer, it becomes soul crushing.

  • Where are you today?
  • What are your hopes and desires for the area that is concerning you?
  • What inner heart issues have come up on the way to your goal?
  • What are the options for getting there?
  • What is your best option for today?

Consider giving coaching a try.

Benefits

There are many benefits to be had from engaging in life coaching:

Clarity: Coaching will help you to get and stay clear about your goals and the direction you would like to head in.

Accountability:  Coaching will help you make your plans and create realistic, achievable and inspiring goals without giving advice or telling you what to do.  You give your coach permission to engage you in positive ways to explore deeper when you have not achieved your goal and need to check what stopped you and  decide what you want to do to move forward again.

Unbiased Input:  A coach who is not an immediate friend, family, coworker or boss can give you freedom to explore and express yourself in ways you couldn’t with someone who has a bias. A coach is outside of the tensions in your immediate situation and can introduce a fresh perspective that helps you to see things about yourself and your life situation differently.

It’s Time To Focus On You: Let’s face it, life is busy and has many demands that keep you from focusing on your dreams and aspirations.  Years can go by and you find yourself living with the same issues.  Life coaching is a definitive choice you make to take time to invest in you.  Life coaching can change your life by enabling you to make the changes that are important to you.

Personal Development: Life coaching is not an easy choice.  It will be challenging and hard work, but the results will be rewarding and fun. Life coaching involves change which often involves becoming self aware and making discoveries about your motivations and desires and the choice to expand your comfort zone.  The reward will be your own personal development, accomplishments and satisfaction of achieving your goals.

Encounter Coaching: Encounter Coaching engages with Jesus in areas where we are limited and can’t transform ourselves merely through discipline alone.  There are aspects to the way God designed our hearts to work that were made to depend on God.  One of the biggest reasons why we fail to change is we try to manage our outward behavior but ignore why we do what we do. Disciplining your outward actions without addressing the beliefs, wounds, and unmet desires that drive them is like trying to hold a big beach ball under the water.  It takes constant discipline and effort and the minute you stop trying, it pops up again.  All that discipline and yet nothing inside changes. According to Jesus, our outward behavior is driven by the heart. The secret of transformation Jesus’ way is to have your desires fulfilled in relationship with God.  You will be amazed at the difference it makes to the rest of your life.
